Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow

My middle school volleyball season is almost over. There is always the part of me that is sad, but another part is relieved to get some rest. I've just been glad to have something besides Avery to keep me busy during football season. The days seem long enough even with me being gone for games and practice, but they get even longer when I don't have that to keep me busy while we wait for Kenny to get home.

Avery has been lucky to get to spend time with Daddy before school and during first period while I'm running practice. I guess we're all going to have some adjusting to get used to.

...And then...there will be another little Simpson to fill the void!

But I digress.

The season has been a decent one. Our loss column is more full than the win column, but when I sit back and review, I can see how far the girls have come. I can take pride in seeing what I have taught them, and how their talent has taken them the rest of the way. I guess that's all that matters; at least that's what we are supposed to say right? Winning doesn't matter? It's been a good group this year; I've really enjoyed getting to know all of their personalities. I will be sad as the last day of practice approaches.

I'm sure that you have had a blast with your girls! Can't believe that your baby boy will be here before we know it! That ticker is getting lower! I'm so excited for you guys and can't wait to see him!

Hey, we're supposed to say that winning doesn't matter, but I know that it's important to you, as a coach, and to the girls, as players. It just isn't the most IMPORTANT thing. I know that you have taught, and they have learned things that will take them much farther in their friendships, athletics, and educations than just a big win column would. I know you and Kenny both care a lot about your teams-and that's awesome!

Congtats on another season under your belt!

And hey, here's to starting a whole new season in a whole new ballgame!!! :) So excited for you guys as we wait for the word on Braden!

Who are we kidding - winning DOES matter! :-) But y'all are right - it's not the most important thing. You are a great coach & those girls are blessed to have you teaching them! Next thing you know it'll be time for Upward basketball! Haha, just kidding :-)

Speaking of winning and loosing, Kenny is hoping you will NOT give birth on the projected date. Come on, Saturday during football season? Thankfully, it is the week that Florida plays Vandy--so it is not a really big game.

oh girl...I did upward cheerleading one year....NEVER AGAIN. sorry but unless you have no kids and are basically single..there is not enough time in the day to invest in this stuff! the funny part is, I had two of my teens helping me, and we even taught them a dance routine to cheetah girls. what fun. riiiggghhhht.
