Baby Is Still in Momma's Tummy?

We had our doctor's appointment this morning (which the doctor told me last week that he didn't think we would make it to...). Here's the sad part; after a week of painful contractions, NO change! Ah!

Good news is that we will go in on Monday to deliver our sweet Braden! My parents are traveling in on Saturday, so we'll have family here with us.

Avery's excited. Daddy's excited. Momma's a little nervous, but very excited.

Here's to 4 days and counting...

Big Sister Princess

Of course Avery is Daddy's Little Princess. We just have the outfit now to prove it. Saturday when Kenny came home from film, Avery welcomed him with a, "Daddy, I'm your princess!" Then gave him a big smackeroo!

I haven't done my part in taking pictures of Avery with Braden at this point. I've been meaning to go to a studio to get some pretty ones taken, but these will have to do for now.

Avery likes to kiss on him as well as feel him move. Lately, her conversations have gotten pretty serious with him. "Braden; it's time for you to come out and play," she'll add.

I think we're all getting very excited!

Hide And Seek

I've always warned that you have to be careful what you say around Avery, or around any child for that matter, because they pick up on everything! Phone calls, television, and conversations taking place in other rooms are always up for grabs for little ears to hear.

I noticed once again today that she likes to be grown up and in turn, mimicks my every move. During a wild game of Hide And Seek, I ran to hide (because she counts to ten super fast), and soon after the "ready or not, here I come" I heard the following.

"Is she behind the curtains? No."

"Is she behind the frog? No."

"Is she in the closet? No."

Then her voice got closer and more anxious as I could tell she was nervous that I might possibly be right around the corner...

"Is..she...behind...the.....COUCH! YES!" As I jumped out to scare her.

Maybe it just struck me funny, but apparently that's the kind of things she hears from me when I'm seeking her. "Is she behind the chair? No. The futon? No. The door? No. Under the covers? Yes!"

I love how kids learn from observation.

Braden Update

For those of you who may want details, here you go.

We went to the doctor today. I'm dialated to 3 1/2 and am 50% effaced. (Is that how you spell it?) Dr. Martin says he thinks there's a 60% chance we won't make it to next week's appointment, but if we do then we can go ahead and set an inducement date for the following week so family can get into town.

So, time is drawing even nearer!

I'm Ready

I'm working on my 38th week! I remember being very uncomfortable with Avery, but this time around I was determined to enjoy every last minute and not wish for it to be over.

Well, I've given in and decided that I'm ready. Sometimes.

Some days I'm so excited about Braden making his entrance, and other days I'm scared to death. Of course there's nothing I can do about it at this point except pray. I know that God isn't going to let me enter being a mother of two in the wrong mindset, so when Braden gets here, I'm sure I'm going to be in the excited stage.

When I was pregnant with Avery, I had tons of contractions and I always wondered if I would know what the real ones felt like. Everyone told me that I would definately know. They were right.

It's funny how memories fade because this time around I keep wondering if I'm having some real ones along the way. I thought last night was the night. Contractions came every 4 minutes for an hour, but only every third one hurt pretty badly. Once I went to sleep, I had some more that woke me up.

Apparently it wasn't time because here I sit with a baby still in my tummy.

Quick Avery story: Last night we went to Kenny's JV football game. On the way into the gate Avery said, "where's Braden?"

I told her he was still in my tummy.

She then proceeded to say, "when he gets here, we're going to take him to football games too!"

Smart girl. I'm sure we're all in for many more football games to come.

A Day At The Fair

I'm constantly reminded of how grown up Avery is getting. Last night we went to the fair, and since the recent cold front made things a little chilly, I had to pull out some of her Fall clothes. Once I put on her little jeans and long sleeved shirt, I teared up because she looked like a little girl instead of a toddler.

Last Tuesday we tried to go to the fair during the day since Kenny was out of school, but once we got there we saw the rides did not start until 3, so we had to drive away without experiencing the fun. Avery thought she had done something wrong and cried and cried as if to say, "I won't do whatever I did wrong again, as long as we can go to the fair!" We ended up going to the mall to ride the carousel and to McDonald's to play on the playground.

But I digress.

Last night we enjoyed the Fair. Rides, shows, animals and all. I am normally the one in the family that does the riding with Avery, but since I'm out of commission, Kenny took over that role. I think they had fun bonding each time they waited in line or rode a ride together. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them together.

I have tons of sweet stories, but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. I've included some from last year, side by side with some similar shots from this year. (Looks like Avery isn't the only one that did some growing!)

Prediction Time

I should have added this to the last post, but predictions are welcome! I know some have already suggested some dates, but I'd love to see what others think too! Kenny has a calendar on his board at school, and the kids have each chosen a date. If one is right, they get extra points on their grade...true story.

It Has Begun

I started having contractions Tuesday evening, and they have not let up as of this moment. They aren't the "real" ones; just very uncomfortable. BUT the good news is at least they are doing something. I went to the doctor this morning, and he said I'm dialated to a 2 (out of 10 for those who might not know off the top of their heads). I could be that way for two days or two weeks, but at least something is going on. The doctor still thinks I have another week, but not much after that! Time is drawing near....

Name Game

This past Monday, Kenny, Avery and I went to Target to return/exchange some things. While we were there, Kenny and I talked across the medicine aisles. He said, "Jamey, I found it." I soon heard Avery echo, "Jamey, I found it!" Really was funny at the time.

This morning, Avery was rolling around on the floor and Curtis walked by. She said, "There's my puppy dog; his name is Curtis."

I said, "it sure is; what's your name?"

She said, "Avery."

I asked what my name was. She said, "Momma....ummmm..Jamey!"

I laughed and asked what daddy's name was. She replied, "Kenny!"

I guess it's time for us to switch to 'Momma' and 'Daddy' full time!

I Wonder...

I know I've mentioned before some of the crazy comments you get when you're pregnant. In a recent newsletter I saw some replies that go along with rude comments. I myself do not have the guts to ever say these (even with my pregnancy hormones), but I did chuckle when I read them.

"Really? Well, I grew someone's heart and brain today; what did you do?"

"Go ahead, but I'm not touching yours."

"At least I have a reason for my weight gain."

There were some others, but they were really, really mean. I wonder if there are people out there who would use some of these?

On a side note, has anyone popped off a reply before thinking twice? Do tell...!

The Game of Tag About your Man

I didn't really get tagged for this, but I saw it on my friend Amy's blog and thought it was neat.

1. Who is your man? Kenny
2. How long have you been together? 8 years...wow!

3. How long did you date? about 2 1/2
4. How old is your man?27
5. Who eats more? Maybe me. He actually stops eating when he's full; I tend to keep going just because it tastes good.

6. Who said "I love you" first? I'm not sure
7. Who is taller? He is; even when I'm wearing heels. That was major dating criteria.

8. Who sings better? We both like to sing...I don't really know who's better.
9. Who is smarter? depends on the situation-I think we balance each other well. He is definately better at retaining information than I am, so maybe that means he is.
10. Whose temper is worse? I get upset more often, but when Kenny gets mad..he gets mad.
11. Who does the laundry? me
12. Who takes out the garbage? Kenny, when I ask him.
13. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Me
14. Who pays the bills? I do; Kenny has it all the finances in his head, but I like to keep it on paper.
15. Who is better with the computer? I'd probably say me.
16. Who mows the lawn? Kenny
17. Who cooks dinner? Me, but Kenny cooks a mean frozen pizza.
18. Who drives when you are together? Kenny
19. Who pays when you go out? Kenny
20. Who is most stubborn? I know I'm stubborn, but he is too...we'd probably say each other.
21. Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? Me
22. Whose parents do you see the most? We don't get to see either often enough, but we do see mine more.
23. Who kissed who first? I kissed him, but he had just swept me off my feet (literally) and gave me that look like he was about to, so I thought I'd make it easy.
24. Who asked who out? He hit on me while I was on a date with someone else, so I guess he did.

25. Who proposed? Kenny
26. Who is more sensitive? Uh, me.
27. Who has more friends? Probably equal here-I probably keep in better contact with mine though
28. Who has more siblings? Kenny
29. Who wears the pants in the family? Kenny always has the final say, but he respects my opinion in discussions.

I tag whoever wants to do this.
